MAMA Nominees Farewell Party

Honestly, we arrived late. But our sources told us that we were not missing much, as JR was just rambling on and on... We eventually arrived to the VIP soiree at the Park Hyatt’s Jabulani Lounge, Rosebank, and we were instantly impressed by the immediate platter servings and champagne. As much as people like to deny it, such small details are the exact motivation for everyone in the entertainment industry to dress up; however sleep-deprived one might feel, and attend these things. I can tell you that a lot of people didn’t even know what the soiree was about. But they were there, thanks to the free food and drinks.

This pre-MAMAs soiree was quite nice, even though it was really literally hot. We became rather excited when the MAMA nominees started performing. However, some of us could not fully enjoy the performances because the temperature went even higher, and the only way to keep ourselves from collapsing form the heat stroke, or something like that, was to go outside. Jozi’s performance really stood out. DaLes really went for the kill. At some point, he felt it necessary to leave the stage and dance on a really nice couch. Feeling sorry for that gorgeous red couch, I had a flashback. I thought I was watching a rerun of the Oprah Winfrey episode when Tom Cruise was jumping on her couch like he was a little girl at a slumber party.

We ended up at the launch of Hush Club. Let us not say too much about that experience because, to us, it felt like the reincarnation of Moloko. Just as reincarnations works, Hush seemed to have the same crowd as Moloko had, and the only difference was the decor and the name. It looks really nice though.

We would like to wish all the nominees luck, and we hope they snatch all the awards they’ve been nominated for.

To JR: We hope that tequila video of yours gets you all the publicity you need to win.

To Jozi: You guys keep shocking us with your will to survive, even as you cut your members out, one by one.
